darzo is back with another intriguing new single titled “Metamorphosis,” which will delight your music radar today. The third single leading up to a fuller release this Spring, darzo brings a bold and beautiful sound to your ears.
With every single a bit more genre-bending then the last, “Metamorphosis,” reveals a sound that is filled with electro elements that we haven’t really heard from darzo before.
The sound is slick, yet raw, as darzo pulls at your heartstrings. The lyricism is gorgeously crafted as it hovers over an eclectic journey of instruments that bring the song further to life.
Adar of darzo reveals of the song:
“Metamorphosis” began as an embryonic, lo-fi, experimental GarageBand project nearly ten years ago. An ode to heartbreak, painful growth, and the commitment we must make to unconditionally love ourselves throughout these processes, this song ricocheted around the inside of my head over the course of my twenties. Finally, while recording Single Cell, I decided it was time to truly bring it to life. I was inspired to move way outside of the sonic realm of the album, and produce a vocal forward, minimal groove that felt as though it had been just waiting to emerge the entire time. The result is a song that feels like it represents my bare essence, and charts my new direction forward as a songwriter, producer, and performer.”
Based in Charlottesville, VA, darzo has mesmerized audiences with metaphor, melody, and rhythm — music that emerges from a deeply interior space in which private meanings become shared experience. Formed in 2016 by Adar Seligman-McComas, darzo is not purely Soul, not simply R&B, not straight-up Jazz. Blending and transcending genres, darzo delivers a silken, yet raw sound that is utterly its own. The band is currently in the process of releasing its first full-length album, which is expected to be available to the public this Spring.
