Few fictional characters outside of perhaps Dominic Monaghan’s doomed Charlie Pace from Lost have endeared themselves quite so deeply to fans as that of actor Steven Yeun’s loveable yet equally marked character of Glenn from the smash show The Walking Dead. For an actor this is both a blessing and a curse; a blessing in that it is a rare and beautiful thing for any actor to so emotionally connect with their audience in the way that Yeun has with such a memorable character; a curse in that the same audience that loved an actor in a particular film or television show might not accept that same thespian in any other role that doesn’t closely hew to the part they’ve so fully embraced. Luckily for Yeun (and for Monaghan, it should be pointed out) that’s not the case, as is witness by today’s announcement from The Hollywood Reporter that the versatile actor is in serious talks to join the cast of an upcoming Universal film.
Oscar nominated actor Steven Yeun (Minari), fresh off of his recognition from the Academy, has just added another feather in his 2021 cap with the announcement of his probable casting in the upcoming Jordan Peele thriller from Universal Pictures. Yeun would be joining Keke Palmer (Hustlers) and Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Black Panther) in the untitled movie which has been given a July 22, 2022 drop date.
Although not many plot details are known about Peele’s latest film – the auteur obviously taking a page out of the M. Night Shyamalan secrecy playbook – what little is known is intriguing indeed: Like Get Out and Us, the latest Peele film is rooted in the genre of horror with the filmmaker set to write and direct the latest opus. The Oscar winning director will also serve as a producer on the new flick along with Ian Cooper for their production house Monkeypaw Productions. That’s enough for this “less is more” scribe to be content with until the movie is ready for release. Looky-Loo’s, keep movin’; Nothing to see here!
Steven Yeun is not resting on his laurels with all of the good vibes audiences, critics and contemporaries are lavishing upon him: The versatile gent is also signed up for the feature film Humans and a series called Beef which will co-star Ali Wong (Always Be My Baby).
As more becomes known about Peele’s latest film, rest assured campers that Vents will be here to provide you all of the details!
