There are many problems we might face from time to time due to stressing a lot. Moreover, there are people who stress over almost anything and everything. This manner of overstressing over things can be really harmful to anyone.

If you have a problem of overstressing, you might get exposed to a lot of physical or mental conditions or both. Also, one doesn’t even need the problem of overstressing to have a stressful life, the things we have to go through from day-to-day are already stressful enough. And the harm stress can cause us are manifold. Stress is generally a way of our body’s dealing with tough and hectic situations by releasing different chemicals into our bloodstream that works to give us a burst of strength and energy. If it happened occasionally, we would’ve been fine. But as in present time, we face every day, every hour in our life. It isn’t as good. In fact, this frequent burst of chemicals can be really damaging to our health, as this exhausts our bodies a lot and wears us down.

A person that goes through a lot of stress continuously can get affected by many problems during their life. While some problems might come gradually, some issues might be really sudden and quick to show up. Stress doesn’t affect us emotionally only. It has huge health hazard issues too. Stress weakens our immunity system, exposes us to frequent anxiety attacks, migraines, headaches, diabetes, high blood pressure, gastrointestinal problems, etc. Among all the problems a stressful life might cause, hearing loss problems are one. It is sad and terrifying that our stressful life can gradually affect our hearing health a lot, and we might lose our hearing ability.

Stress and Hearing Loss

The fragile hair cells we have in our inner ears depend on a steady stream of blood from which they receive sufficient oxygen and other nutrients. And when we are stressed, the blood circulation throughout our body gets disturbed. When our body responds to the stress we are having, it overproduces a hormone called adrenaline. And this overproduction of adrenaline reduces the blood flow to the ears and affects the hearing ability as a consequence. The ear cells in our inner ear get damaged or even completely destroyed at times if there isn’t a constant blood flow. If you become too much stressed, then the blood flow to your ears can entirely stop, and it can cause immediate hearing loss.

Moreover, when you get too much stressed, you can easily get exposed to hypertension or high blood pressure. Hypertension comes almost inevitably with stress, and when it occurs, it comes with severe hearing repercussions. When someone goes through chronic stress, it can form a severe form of hypertension that can lead to tinnitus or other forms of hearing loss problems. If you don’t even suffer from sudden hearing loss, your hearing might worsen gradually. As a result, you can later fall victim to complete hearing loss or severe tinnitus.

The symptoms of hearing loss which is caused due to huge stress, might include a blocked or stuffed feeling in the ears, a feeling of pain or pressure in the ears, or complete loss of hearing in just one or both ears. You might also experience beeping, buzzing, ringing, or whistling in the ears that are caused by tinnitus. These sounds in your ears can be really annoying, unsettling, and painful even. You can also hear sounds in a muffled manner. Tinnitus is not just a form of hearing health problem. It can also be an early sign of hearing loss.
