PREMIERE: Moonlight Social Release New Music Video For “What Do You Want From Me?”

Moonlight Social are back at it again with their bold new video for “What Do You Want From Me?” The follow up video to their latest single release, Moonlight Social shows no sign of slowing down as we head further into 2021. In fact, they are more ambitious than ever. Their next step, as their latest album release “The Carrot”  came out late last year, the duo brings to the table an intriguing song and video to boot. Filled with twists and turns, the cinematic piece fits the song like a glove. Vivid imagery comes to life in the video that drives the very depth and soul of the song throughout. Both help to tell the story that Moonlight Social is trying to convey. Sticking to their heartfelt and storytelling elements, they share relatable lyricism that helps to paint a vivid picture in your mind.

Jeremy of Moonlight Social shares:

“This music video is one of those rare ones where we were basically writing it at the same time we were recording the song. So much of the themes just really seemed to fit together. “What Do You Want From Me?” is really about this feeling of being trapped in the hopeless exhaustion of trying to make somebody else happy. We brought that to life with this kind of psychological thriller escape concept. We do all our own videos, usually for very little to no money, so the key thing is always finding a good location to make it work. We used the exterior of this abandoned old warehouse for a different video before and after meandering inside we realized it was the perfect place to shoot this video. While we were filming somebody came by to start cleaning up probably to sell or something, so we’re really lucky we were able to make this when we did. Oh, and Jeremy learned how to do some VFX compositing in order to make the “evil Jennica” reveal work. Overall this song and video are 100% the result of just hustling to make something you believe in, and we’re really proud of how it turned out.”

The Texas-born, Nashville raised duo is formed by Jeremy Burchard and Jennica Scott, longtime best friends who met as members of The University of Texas Longhorn Band (Burchard as a member of the drum line, Scott as a trumpet player).  The duo cut their teeth on the road, playing hundreds of shows out of their home base of Austin, Texas, and in 2016 they relocated to Nashville, Tennessee.  Their 2018 EP Make You Smile debuted on the Billboard charts and The Huffpost called lead single “simply irresistible.” Their 2020 release of “The Carrot,” made listeners fall further head over heels for the group with their groundbreaking and noteworthy sound. Bringing a thematic, energetic live show, the band has played hundreds of shows across dozens of states and continues to release catchy, thoughtful, genre-bending music.
