R&B artist Ray Medixi was busy this past Valentine’s Day and Woman’s month dropping new music, doing intimate listening events for his supporters, virtual shows, and celebrating Black History month by taking us back to to the Renaissance and reminding people of heroes that should not be forgotten by channeling his inner Duke of R&B and showing respect to the first Black Man who became the Duke of Florence, Italy; Alessandro de Medici.
Looking back through his career Ray Medixi said that he always knew why he pronounced himself a Medici but he always felt like the people didn’t and he felt like this time around it was important for people to know who he really is by doing things that really show it. “Through channeling the spirit of the Duke of Florence Alessandro De Medici, I really just had the intention to show African American people that we have heroes that we didn’t even know about in a time where most didn’t think it was possible to achieve certain things. I haven’t felt this excited about something since the Afro Art gala event I hosted back in 2018 with the Marcus Garvey family and Power 105. It truly was a humbling experience and I’m happy to be a patron of the arts in any way shape or form.” This time around Ray wanted to give the Medixi fans something different than alI his other releases and show that it’s not only about the music for him; it’s about the message. On Valentine’s Day, Ray Medixi released two tracks, Home for the Night and Morning Star. Both songs are very different but have a strong message behind them. Stay tuned for more music from Ray Medixi and check out the video below for the Official Visual of his song, Morning Star.
