Hi Dani, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi guys, I’m really good and super excited about my debut single. Thanks a lot for having me

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Song Of The Ages”?

This single is massively special for me. After many years of research and exploring new sounds, I have finally captured the one that represents me and express what I wanted to tell with my music. Undoubtedly, V has contributed with her remarkable voice and lyrics to raise this record to a timeless piece.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I would say that more than a particular event, it has been the sum of experiences and inspirations I have had in the last two years what has led me to write this song. If I have to highlight an event that inspired me for this song, that would be my trip to Miami to record this song with Bozeman. When you are collaborating with someone that gifted, the inspiration just comes to you.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

This is something we spoke about during the production process of the record in Miami, but that was just at the beginning of the pandemic and we were not able to flight. Therefore, we have no plan of recording any video just yet.

How was the recording and writing process?

It was really smooth an easy. The writing process is something I like to do on my own and so I did. Synths are mainly made with Mini V, emulation of the classic Minimoog, Moog Sub37 and TAL-U-No-LX (Emulation of Roland Juno 60)

The vocals recording was also super fun, I used a Tube Tech compressor on the way in to control the peaks as her voice is really powerful. It just took us two days to get everything recorded.

What was it like to work with V Bozeman and how did that relationship develop?

Extraordinary, I knew her work beforehand and was so excited to record with her. As soon as I met her in the studios I thought, we are going to make a hit!

Since the first minute she understood what I wanted to express with this song and the lyrics she made make the point. She’s strong and gifted

How much did he get to influence the song?

A lot! There is not only her voice in the record, is also her soul and her thoughts with these beautiful lyrics

Do you tend to take a different approach when collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own?

Of course, there are things that must be done differently, but my first approach always, after a conversation with she/him is by myself in my studio. I tend to ask as many questions as possible to get information and see points in common.

What role does London play in your music?

Crucial, since I moved to London, I have enriched myself so much. The multiculturality here is one of the things that make this city special. Also, I am from the south of Spain and the contrast is huge. I have lived in south and now I am in East London and it’s a really inspiring and artistic city.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

I am working on more music and there are already some finished tracks that will be released through this year. Nothing I can say about that just yet, but big things are coming!

What else is happening next in Dani Calvo’s world?

Hopefully we will be out of this nightmare called Covid-19 and I will be doing what I like the most, make people smile, dance and feel through my music in live events. Apart from that I am taking advantage of this extended time at home to develop my sound and try to relieve people’s problems that this pandemic may cause.
