Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Thanks for having us! We’re great thank you, just gearing up to release our next single “Spark”

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Spark”?

Lyrically it’s about meeting someone new on a night out and feeling that instant spark and just forgetting all your problems. Sonically it’s a blend of 80s synths and some huge arena-sized riffs, it’s got a sense of nostalgia to it while still sounding up to date.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I don’t know if it’s any one event that inspired the track, it’s more like it’s inspired by all of those great nights out that we’ve had.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

There is a music video coming out when the single drops. Visually it’s like a Wham! Promo video from the 80s, but the dancing is probably a bit worse.

How was the recording and writing process?

We finished tracking the instruments for “Spark” like a week before lockdown 1 back in March last year so it took us a while to get the vocals tracked properly. It was a bit of a nightmare but it was something that helped us focus on something during the first lockdown.

What role does Essex play in your music?

I wouldn’t say it plays a massive role. Living so close to London we tend to find that that plays a bigger role in our music than being in Essex does.

With the great reception your music has gotten – does that put any pressure on you as you work on new material or rather the opposite?

It puts a little pressure on as we don’t want to go too far from what we’ve done but at the same time we don’t want to stay in the same space sonically and risk going stale. It’s always in the back of our mind but we don’t really tend to give it much thought.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

There are a few finishing touches to be made on some bits but we’re planning on releasing quite a bit this year.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Nothing that we can tell you just yet.

What else is happening next in Palmist’s world?

Hopefully playing some shows for all of our amazing fans!
