INTERVIEW: FVZ

Hi Fazi, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi! I am great, thank you for asking and having me. I am keeping myself busy with all the administrative tasks that need to happen in the background in order for my brand to grow. All the way from marketing to doing the taxes for my brand FVZ. I am also taking personal development courses from a platform called Mind Valley on how to maximize productivity while working from home and much more.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “On My Way (OMW)”?

Absolutely, this song is my first released single ever and it’s an accurate representation of the artist and person I am. It’s an upbeat, feel good type of music created to spread love & positivity to my fans. The overall message of the song is towards pushing and becoming the best version of yourself while ignoring the people that don’t really believe in you and want to distract you from you reaching your dreams.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

There is! Here is the story: before being a producer I was a part time DJ during my years studying in University. One of our relatively older family friend ended up asking me “what I wanted to be once I graduated?” Me being the confident person I am, told them that I wanted to be an artist, a producer and a DJ touring the world. They reacted by rolling their eyes and asking me again “what are you realistically going to be after you graduate?” This experience made me realize that they don’t really think I can achieve the mentioned goals, that experience has become my motivation on proving those people wrong. The title of this song “On My Way” and it is a message to those people that don’t believe in me to please step aside and let me show you what I am capable of doing by becoming the world-famous artist, producer and a DJ that I want to be.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

Yes after a few weeks from the release date I will be releasing a lyrics video and after that I will be collaborating with some of the Toronto’s upcoming music video directors on creating a music videos that will fully illustrate the story being told in the song.

How was the recording and writing process?

Since I’m a producer and was previously a DJ, I not only look at the song lyrically but as a song to be able to make people dance too. Once I’ve created the beat and made sure it was catchy enough for people to dance to then I went on a website called the Sound Better and that’s where I found on Siera’s page. Listened to a few of her songs and instantly fell in love with her vocal tone. After reaching out to her, she ended up liking it song and agreed to collaborate together. Since I live in Toronto and Siera in LA, we would go back and forth via email and text writing the lyrics of the song version by version.

What role does Toronto play in your music?

Toronto plays a crucial role in my sound, it’s a city that has many cultures and a lot of Torontonians including myself get exposed to different genres of music frequently. Having exposure to different cultures and genres formed me to be the producer I am today; it also makes me unique in a way that I can use influences from different cultures and throw them up in a melting pot to create songs with global influences.

How does your upbring influences your writing?

Absolutely, every person’s upbringing and past has formed them to the person they are today. If it wasn’t for my parents encouraging me to learn different instruments and play in different concert and jazz bands, I wouldn’t be the artist I am today. I think that the beauty about every artist, everyone had their unique upbringing and as a result every artist’s work is different.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, definitely. I’m always working on new material and for consistency I always work on 2-3 songs ahead of schedule, meaning I already have the next 2-3 songs schedule to be released. Although it’s exciting to have all of these songs ready ahead of time but, it can be challenging choosing which one and when to release them.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Absolutely my next song is going to be a released on Friday April 9th 2021 and it’s called “The Judge”. since I don’t want to ruin any surprises that’s all I’m going to tell you for now.

What else is happening next in FVZ’s world?

I am going to be taking a career development program at Canada’s Music Incubator called Artist Entrepreneurship, in this program I am going to be developing my skills on becoming a successful touring music producer/DJ and eventually hosting my own concerts and shows for my fans to attend. This program will give me a great opportunity to not only improve my understanding of music laws and industry best practices but to develop my skills as an artist to become a successful business too.
