Hit Show “Killing Eve” to End Run with Season 4

All good things must come to an end, even (or especially) in the land of television; this sentimental aficionado of the boob tube still vividly recalls shedding buckets of tears during the series finale of M*A*S*H and not-so stoically trying to keep it together for the ending of The Wonder Years. And don’t even get me started on the copious amount of hankies I wrung my way through during the swan song of one of the best primetime ongoing shows ever, Lost. Yep, it’s safe to say that at one time or another most of us have given in completely to the bittersweet reality of a beloved series going the way of Davey Jones’ Locker. Which brings us up to 2021 and the breaking news today from our buddies at The Hollywood Reporter that critical darling and fan favorite AMC/BBC America show Killing Eve is exiting the building after its fourth season concludes in 2022. But fear not Junior Woodchucks, it’s not all gloom and doom.

Announced today by AMC/BBC America is the conclusion of critically lauded show Killing Eve after the fourth season wraps up, but with a promise of potential spinoffs from the Sandra Oh starring series to hopefully cushion the blow (try not to think too much of another spinoff from a favorite show, After M*A*S*H. You’ll sleep perhaps a bit better that way, Dear Readers…). Word ‘round campfire has it that Killing Eve is departing for the Happy Hunting Grounds not because of any type of decline in ratings, but rather because of the wishes of the show’s creative who feel it appropriate to draw a finish to the story with the fourth season.

In a press release announcing their decision, AMC Big Wheel and president of original programming said that “Killing Eve exploded in popular culture and attracted a dedicated and committed fan base from its very first episode. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s brilliant adaptation of the source material, the unforgettable characters given life by Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, and the entire cast, along with our partners at Sid Gentle Films, have delivered a one-of-a-kind roller-coaster ride that has taken our breath away…We look forward to what is sure to be an unforgettable final season and to exploring potential extensions of this compelling universe.”

After three – soon to be four – brilliant seasons, Vents extends the following Quentin Tarantino adieu to Killing Eve: “As the sun sets slowly in the west we bid a fond farewell to all the friends we’ve made…and, with a touch of melancholy, we look forward to the time when we will all be together again.”
