“Nomadland” Racks Up More Nominations As the BAFTA Nominations Are Announced

If you’re any sort of a movie geek (like me) then this particular time of the year is akin to Super Bowl season for sports fans. To wit, large bodies of film societies gather together between January and March to announce their selections for all that is considered not merely good in the film industry, but bloody brilliant. One of the leaders in the world of connoisseur’s for movies and television is the esteemed British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA if you’re mileage runs to the abbreviated), the Brit’s version of our own Academy Awards. This institution has been going strong since the Greatest Generation walked in plentiful multitudes upon the world, 1947 to be exact. Dissecting their nominations – and wins – is right up there with taking a deep-dive in the Golden Globe Awards in that both are considered to be strong indicators of what might receive recognition and praise once the coveted Oscar nominations are announced. Well, get out those score cards kiddies, because BAFTA officially announced their nominations this very morning. And, courtesy of our better looking rivals across the street (i.e. The Hollywood Reporter) we’re here today to tell you who was recognized for their efforts for 2020 and who was perhaps shut out in inimitable Susan Lucci fashion. So, without further ado, here are the 2020 BAFTA nominees…
