With mountains of radio play and positive reviews from the likes of Seattle’s KEXP, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, XS Noize, Pitchfork and Louder Than War for his previous music exploits, singer/musician/producer Pete Thompson has launched his brand new project VELOCITY FALLS.
“It started with a pick handed to me by former Augustines front man, William McCarthy” enthuses Pete. “I went home and within about 20 minutes had started to write what would become the debut single! I’ve not looked back since…there’s a lot of magic in that orange guitar pick!”
With a name that sounds like a fictional American town from a 1980s Michael J. Fox movie and an arsenal of songs influenced by 90s indie and a time when melodic guitar pop dominated the charts, Pete is releasing a number of singles over the coming months. The first of which being the guitar-laden Finest Hours.
“I completed writing the song during lockdown in summer 2020” says Pete. “While it was pretty depressing to be deprived of normal life activities, I took solace in the fact that I was in lockdown with the people I love and care for the most; my wife and daughter”. Pete continued “The song is about being there for someone during the thick and thin times of life; I’d definitely class a global pandemic as a thin!”
