Streaming Behemoth Netflix Previews a Jaw-Dropping Slate of 40 Upcoming Indian Films and Television Series

It’s always a great thing when there’s equal representation of different cultures and nationalities in Hollywood; it reminds us just how small the globe we all inhabit really is and acknowledges all of our similarities even as it celebrates and embraces the differences. To that end, it was a welcome sight indeed to wake up to a headline from our- ever on top of it buddies over at The Hollywood Reporter about an impressive number of upcoming Netflix projects set to feature the fast-growing Indian market.

 During a Netflix gala event held in Mumbai, Big Wheels for the streaming platform Monika Shergill and Srishti Behl Arya laid out the groundwork during their What’s Next India 2021 presentation for what promises to be an ambitious slate of dozens of film and television projects, all of them focused on representing India even as strong competition in the Asian market nips at their respective heels.

 Monika Shergill addressed the gala, saying that “Our upcoming lineup features more variety and diversity than we have seen before. From the biggest films and series, to gripping documentaries and reality, and bold comedy formats, we are taking our next big leap in India to bring you more than 40 powerful and irresistible stories from all corners of the country.”

 Of course, 40 new and ambitious titles can’t be handled exclusively by Netflix alone: To that end, production houses Reliance Entertainment, Viacom 18 Studios, T-Series, Endemol Shine India, Emmay Entertainment, Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment will be working in tandem with the popular streamer to deliver on the promise of 40 new projects.
