One of the most popular indie bands in America today is Chicago based duo “The PondHawks,” consisting of Mario Novelli and Jorie Gracen. Some of the reasons The PondHawks stand out over the rest is their intense and cryptic storytelling ability and their outstanding harmonies. Influenced by The Beatles their music escapes genre labeling and is produced and orchestrated with the upmost musical sensibility.
Their current release is called “Invisible Stranger” a song influenced by the pandemic. Not only is it a warning but an inspiration to all who listen to it. It is an anthemic reference to this historic and dark planetary episode and should be recognized as such. It is interesting how sometimes creativity is found in the darkest corners and our climate currently qualifies.
The PondHawks have over 600,000 loyal followers and a huge existence on social media. Mario plays the guitar and sings lead while Jorie plays keys and sings the harmonies. Both are accomplished musicians and songwriters. They have also been nominated for a Grammy and are well deserving of one. There is no doubt that the future will be full of music and hit songs for The PondHawks….
