Soaring off the back of her transcendent single “I Don’t Wanna Dance”, Manchester maverick Ellysse Mason unveils dazzling new track “Sweet Talkin”.
Driven by ambient textures and pulsating synth swells, the track embarks on a crescendo to oblivion. As her delicate vocals act as anchorage to the song’s hypnotic heartbeat, her poignantly poetic lyricism outlines the notion of finding communication challenging.
Speaking on the track, Ellysse said: “The song is about finding it difficult to communicate. Feeling lost in a void, which can sometimes make you feel like you’re floating off into space, with no tether. And looking back to where you started from, but feeling totally disconnected from it…”
Paired with a stylish, nebulous visual, the young artist remains true to her signature sonic soundscape, inviting the listener to join her in an inter-galactic, 80s infused wonderland.
Speaking on the video, she said: “I wanted to create something quite striking with moving lights, that simulated the look or at least represented the movement of spinning in outer space. Since we didn’t have the budget to go there ourselves on the next SpaceX launch, we just ended up filming in a friend‘s back garden with someone waving some lights around my head. We also use a bunch of fireworks in there! The overall look is really effective considering it was shot in one night on a shoestring.”
