After cutting her teeth in Nashville’s music scene, Jenn Grinels relocated to Portland, Oregon, where she recently took time off from her otherwise relentless tour schedule to record three records that will be released over the next year and a half.
It’s those jaw dropping live performances that have built her reputation as a singer-songwriter and allowed her to carve out a career as a working musician. So, it’s only natural she would want to try to catch some of that lightning in a bottle to share with the world. Today we are pleased to join forces with Grinels for the premiere of her album, Live Volume I, which was recorded over three nights in early 2019 at The Music Box in Cleveland, OH, Rams Head Onstage in Annapolis, MD, and Avalon Theater in Easton, MD. The very raw sound that comes with the live format and the way how we get to hear some of the interactions with her audience as they cheer up, makes the whole album feel much intimate.
About the album, Jenn comments “Performing is my favorite part of my job; I love singing, I love the banter, I love the intense, palpable emotion that can fill a venue, I love the hilarious, spontaneous moments, I love the connection with the audience. I think we got all those elements in this collection of music. We had more than 80 songs to choose from and these were my absolute favorites. They are from three different concerts, so I think maybe the audiences were just exceedingly magical those nights, and it made for extra emotional performances, some really funny exchanges and great energy!”
