Vents Magazine is happy to break the exclusive news – stand aside Hollywood Reporter and Variety – of renowned and respected composers Allen and Randy Lynch being tapped to provide the score for the award-winning (10 wins and 13 nominations) series Tale of Tails.
Some quick background for those of you not in the know: The Harley Wallen directed Tale of Tails (Wallen also pulled writing duty on the series with fellow scribes Steve Kopera and Tevis R. Marcum) is about a seedy bar called Tails that offers hard drinks for those desperate souls who want nothing more than to lose themselves in an alcoholic oblivion. Also on the menu for this fringe establishment is a bevy of topless dancers and a shady back room where, for the right price, anything goes. The owner of Tails is a gentleman named Nick, a desperate sort who keeps his dancers in line alongside the discontent rabble that comprises his clientele. This all setup for the pivot that alters the very fragile fabric of Nick’s reality: A dead body is discovered in the bathroom of Tails and with it comes a reckoning for its proprietor who will do anything to keep control over his fiefdom.
Wallen’s Painted Creek Productions has announced that they have landed on composers Allen Lynch and Randy Lynch to score Tale of Tails: “We are very excited to be a part of Tails,” Allen said in a statement provided to Vents. “We had heard a lot about Harley. Rand and I were hoping to get a chance to work with him on one of his films. Then, all of a sudden, we kept running into him.”
Adds fellow composer and compatriot Randy Lynch of this exciting new collaboration, “When we finally got a chance to talk, we realized we had similar tastes in music and film. It was like talking with family. When Harley mentioned the possibility of scoring this witty, gritty, down and dirty series called Tale of Tails, we jumped at the chance. The cast and crew are exceptional. We love working on the show!”
Brothers Allen and Randy Lynch are celebrated musicians, recognized for their work involving some of today’s hottest Hollywood projects such as Annapolis, xXx: State of the Union and 2 Fast 2 Furious.
For his part, award-winning auteur Harley Wallen (A Bennett Song Holiday, Eternal Code) knew that Tale of Tails had a particular sensibility that all but demanded it be paired with only the best musical score. “I wanted songs and music we recognize and feel so after meeting with Randy and Allen it was evident they could maximize the music and score. Seeing it come together in post-production has been incredible and it looks like the pilot has been incredibly well received at festivals so far and music has been highlighted a lot!”
