Yuliana Grasman is a popular figure in the car racing world. She is also known as “Afra” and she has inspired so many persons with her resilience and success as a woman in a sporting world dominated by men. Despite the opposition she faced from her family, she still went on to pursue her dream of racing relentlessly and her persistence now inspires so many other women to pursue their dreams against all odds. She is known for other things aside from her fame and achievement in the racing world. She has enjoyed the limelight of the entertainment industry as well as featuring in several movies with prominent figures such as Shahrukh Kahn and Salman Kahn. She is also a filmmaker and has appeared in several short films and different music videos. Afra is also a model.
Not only is she good with cars and the road, but she is also a master with words. She has a collection of poems dedicated to her car and the racing sport she loves so much. She plans to use her life story and the lessons she has learned so far to inspire other persons, helping them believe that they too can be successful.
Afra started pursuing her passion right at the age of eleven. She had to battle with opposition and the numerous restrictions posed by her family. She still managed to scale through despite the challenges and turned out to become a professional racer. She owns 2 Nissan patrols; the Nissan Patrol, nicknamed “Black Edition” which is now associated with success and persistence, who became iconic for many, when even young generation playing car games using her Nissan. As well she owns other Nissan patrol which was spotted in 2017 at the first time driven by her on 2 wheel only! It was sensational! As well she represents UAE and support all genders and ages!
It is not easy competing in the male-dominated racing world, despite all odds against her she still had to push her way through and got her big break. She has competed and won in several rallies and races, some of which include Time Attacks, Rally Samuryk, Ice Competitions, Rally 24 hours, UAQ, In Umm AL Quwain, etc.
She’s been passionate and consistent with the sport and has emerged victorious as the first woman to drift with 4 x 4 in freestyle competitors. She has won different competitions with numerous gold and podiums in just her short while in the racing world. She is seen as an emerging motorist in the UAE region and inspires and encourages women to be persistent in the pursuit of their dreams.
With her love and loyalty to the Nissan car brand, the Nissan Patrol model especially has earned her the indisputable role as the Nissan Patrol Queen. She was able to immortalize the Nissan car after she became the only woman that has won the championship as well as the only competitor that has made use of the 4×4 in the competition.
Yuliana has achieved this milestone in the sport and the UAE champion has gone on to make a new record in drift competitions using her Nissan Patrol. Like every racer, Afra has also suffered some setbacks and challenges. There was a time she had an accident in the middle of a competition and had to leave to recover from the injuries she sustained. Her white Nissan was also damaged in this accident; other Nissan was stolen into pieces. It was a terrible setback in her career; even garages refused to allow her access to building her car! Her second car, the Black Edition was also lost in a big accident. It was forcefully taken by a guy who had left her with injuries. The car was canceled.
The accident had left her with several injuries as well. She spent some time recovering and came back with a stronger will to succeed! Her persistence inspired so many other racers who had had an accident in time past to return to the sport. Her story also touched the heart of many persons. It was a struggle for her to return to the racing game, but she was able to adjust quickly and went on to become a Freestyle drift champion. Her Black Nissan has been repaired and it’s now very functional and she has gone on to win so many different racing competitions with it. She became the first woman to have won the 4×4 drift championship in the United Arab Emirates while racing with the Nissan Patrol. The Nissan patrol is now a symbol of dedication and triumph.
Her success as a woman in a male-dominated sport has inspired so many other women. She now provides support and assists other young women to pursue their dream in the racing world. She runs the Black Edition Club, which is a community named after her favorite iconic car and is open to individuals with an interest in cars and racing sport. There they interact and share knowledge about cars and providing support to each other. The club, although just created recently, now enjoys membership and support from international members who joined the club due to Juliana’s success story and enthusiasm. Afra and her Nissan Patrol are recognized internationally as unique brands.
Yuliana is now referred to as the 4×4 Drift Queen of the World due to her success and persistence in a tough sport despite the initial challenges she had to endure. She inspires so many and her message is one of hope and persistence.
