Interview: Rapper Highlyte

Hi Highlyte! How are you?

I’m doing fine, same jet different flight. How are you? 

Where are you from?

I’m from Exit 13, Long Island, New York.

What is your greatest inspiration for your music?

My greatest Inspiration for music has to be the underdog story. The story of the person who had nothing and sacrificed everything to make it out there situations to be on top. 

What are 3 words that describe your music?

The 3 words that can describe my music would definitely be motivation, party, and purpose. 

What is the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?

The hardest subject had to be about when I got shot at 19 and writing about the death of loved ones.

What are the challenges of being an artist?

The first challenge I would say is believing in yourself followed by deciding to never give up. Lastly I would also say actually being good lol.  

Are you planning on releasing new music soon?

Yes, I am gearing up to release new music and dropping a highly anticipated EP called “Flight 516”.
