Made up of six best friends and creatives, Less Popular is a musical collective based in Oakland, California. Combining soulful hip hop and electronic beats with punchy pop production, the group has an artistic vision in mind – taking on the mainstream with their genre bending soundscapes.
Made up of a combination of producers, musicians, vocalists, and content creators, the group’s latest release “All Night” is a late night groove filled with bouncy R&B melodies – an accomplished display of the group’s artistic prowess. “‘All Night’ is an expression of a relationship on its last legs, conveyed through our late night thoughts and the process of letting go”, they explain.
Less Popular kicked off their journey with their debut track “Paper” back in September of this year, which racked up over 60K Spotify plays within the first 2 months and generated support from the likes of Fashionably Early, hip-hop YouTuber PatrickCC, and Gradient Sounds. With “Paper” being a more traditional rap song, Less Popular decided to flex their creative muscles with their sophomore single, “All Night”, a complex and genre-less arrangement which effortlessly showcases their skillset.
With more music set to be released by Less Popular in the coming months, “All Night” is certainly an early indication of the group’s experimental edge and artistic agency.
