Hi Dani, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Selfish”?
Selfish is my most current release. Its a whole mood. It has some 90’s production elements with warm synths and a deep funky baseline. I wanted it to sound sexy and smooth.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Selfish was inspired by a past relationship. I was on vacation with my mom in Mexico days before covid became a thing in Canada and wrote it while we were relaxing before getting ready for dinner.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?\
The ‘Selfish’ official music video is available on YouTube now! Its a mood too, lol defiantly matches the sultriness of the song. I loved styling this video.
How was the recording and writing process?
It is a different process for each song. Selfish was a song that came in creative clarity. I wrote it in Mexico, got back and called my producer at the time Anthony Wright and we hit the studio. We walked out after a 4 hour session with Selfish. Plus and minus a few tweaks.
What role does Toronto play in your music?
Toronto has been my home for 10 years now. The artist community here is strong. And I think Toronto is pumping out its own flavour right now. This city is fun of talent.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
I have a line up on the way! And I am very excited to share with you the follow up to ‘Selfish’, ‘Craved”. It is a pure dance track with so much warm energy. Ive been told it sounds like if Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue had a love child. haha.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
We are planning for March/April. However its all determined by the music video. Its going to be epic. But working around covid rules etc makes it harder to really plan these things.
What other aspect of love and romance will you get to explore on this new material?
Well, as my music releases ill take you through all of my past loves and romances lol.
What else is happening next in Dani Doucette’s world?
Planning. Everyday I’m working towards the big picture. I have huge goals and it takes work and a concise vision. So ill be in the studio writing, recording, experimenting and creating. Till next time 😉
