Hi Chico, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Thank you guys! I’m doing great. Been working a lot from Mexico.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Do It Like Me”?
“Do It Like Me” is a really relaxed and chill track for in the car on your way to the beach or a fun day with your friends. I’m really happy we released the song on Robin Schulz his label. I think it fits really well.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
The idea behind ”Do It Like Me” was to create a backflash into the 80s, the listener should feel like taking part in an 80s movie, driving down route 65 with a white ferrari testarossa and partying until the sunrise. Our goal was combining these emotions with current dance elements and energetic basslines.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
We released a lyric video actually. You can check it out on YouTube.
How was the recording and writing process?
A big shout out to team who helped writing and record the song. Daniel Cronauer, Matthias Zürkler and Christoph Cronauer. They did a really good job.
What was it like to work with B-Case and how did that relationship develop?
The A&R from Spinnin’ Records introduced us to each other. B-Case came with an incredible demo and I couldn’t wait to finish the song. We e-mailed over and over again until the song was finished.
What role does the Netherlands play in your music?
I’m happy I’m from the Netherlands. I get inspired from all the big DJ’s. I really just make whatever I come up with.
What is about the 80s that you find so fascinating?
I love the vibe and I love the music from back then. I think one of my biggest wishes is to go back to the 80’s for 1 week and explore everything.
As your music keeps getting momentum – do you feel any pressure as you put new single or rather the opposite?
No pressure at all. I do whatever I want and release whenever I want. You shouldn’t feel any pressure with something you love to do. I love to make music so I feel really relaxed.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
What I said before. I really just make whatever I come up with. I’m working on a lot of projects lately, so be prepared for a lot of releases.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
My remix for KSHMR is coming in February. Can’t wait for that one. A new single coming the month after on Spinnin’ Records.
What else is happening next in Chico Rose’s world?
I’m in Mexico at the moment with my girlfriend. We can do our work here and kinda escaping winter in Holland. I discovered meditating and I love to do morning walks at the beach. Thanks guys
