Toronto rapper IJF Preach is making noise in the city’s rapidly growing hip hop scene. His recent single, “Said What I Said”, takes the listener back to the days of the old-school while maintaining a modern sound. With storytelling as his focus, IJF Preach aims to make international headway in 2021.
“I like to take my fans on a journey through what I’m going through. I want them to understand not only IJF Preach the rapper, but IJF Preach the human being.” IJF Preach talks about communicating with his fans through his raps.
IJF Preach has always been focused on writing lyrics – originally participating in local freestyle cyphers and rap battles. The tides changed in 2018, when he was nominated for “Emerging Artist of the Year” at the Oshawa Music Awards. Since then, IJF Preach has been focused on making sure his songs connect with fans in a unique way. His in-depth, relatable storytelling comes through in a variety of styles.
“I always say if I need to find out what’s going on in IJF Preach’s head, I’ll just listen to his latest tracks” his manager, Tom Hickey (Tom Hickey Media) explains. “… he’s a walking source of inspiration” he continues.
With plans to drop his debut studio album at the end of the year, IJF Preach continues to take his fans on journeys.
