J-POP Sensations FAKY Releases New Single, “The Light”

J-Pop girl-group, FAKY has released their first single of 2021, “The Light” with an accompanying music video. This song was selected as a campaign song for the horror film Jukaimura (Suicide Forest Village), the most recent work by the master horror director, Takashi Shimizu, who also directed The Ju-on (The Grudge) and Inunakimura (Howling Village; a big hit with a box office gross of over 1.4 billion yen). This up-tempo and cheerful track was created to add another layer of eerieness and uncertainty to the hair-raising storyline and themes of the movie.

2020 was a successful year for the girl group. FAKY released 3 singles, “half-moon”, “Darling (Prod. GeG)”, and “little more” which amassed over 2 million streams on Spotify collectively with  “little more” making the Top 10 of LINE’s Weekly Music Chart. FAKY hopes to further their success in 2021 starting with the release of “The Light”.

“Our new single ‘The Light’ is an uplifting song with its pop melody, powerful live band sound, and motivating message to move forward towards the light” – FAKY

The music was composed by up-and-coming music producer, Maeshima Soshi (Hypnosis Mic, Hey! Say! JUMP, Rinne and Sorane). “The Light” expresses that moment when your heart quivers, just when you are about to change, with the theme being about overcoming conflict and having “power to strike out into the world.”
