Hi Alessio, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hey guys! Pretty good! It has been quite of a weird past few months but we can’t complain.
Looking forward to a normal life again! Hopefully soon!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “A New Tomorrow”?
We wrote ‘A New Tomorrow’ some years ago, in fact it’s one of the first songs we wrote together as a band.
We always loved this song and we decided last summer to revamp it, re-record and re-release it to do justice to it.
The lyrics are so current due to the world we are living in at the moment. They are very positive and push us to believe that things can get better.
Why naming the song after the band?
When we were searching for a band name I had just finished writing the lyrics for ‘A New Tomorrow’. During a band meeting where we had some band names to go through somebody suggested to use that as the band name. Me and Andrea (Lonardi, bassist) moved to the UK from Italy in 2009 and we were searching for a new life and a new outlook coming here. ‘A New Tomorrow’ encompass exactly that and I think it can relate to us all.
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
We filmed 2 music videos for this single: the band video and the cinematic version video.
With the band music video we wanted to show the band unity during the recording of the song, make the listener feel the energy of the room and make them see what a day in the studio with the band making music looks like. The video has been filmed by Dan Gibbons (ETB videos) at our commercial recording studio here in London (Rogue Recording Studios), which is kind of a second home to us.
The cinematic version video has a very intimate setting. We filmed it with the idea of showing me and Michael (Kew, guitarist) starting the song with piano and vocals and having Andrea and Tim (Hall, drummer) joining along the track. It shows a very different side of the band that we just started to explore. Michael rearranged the song into this beautiful cinematic version that made us think it was worth filming a music video for it.
How was the recording and writing process?
Working at our own recording studio the vibe in the studio was awesome and quite relaxed. We were filming the music video while tracking the song and I think that the setting made the whole experience priceless. The song was written years ago and it really contains the emotions of a new beginning in life. It’s positive and slightly melancholic for what you are leaving behind.
What role does the UK play in your music?
The UK has been the country of rock music. Still now so many great rock and metal bands are starting their journey from the UK. It feels like the weather and the setting it’s a great recipe for this kind of music! I was coming to the UK a lot in the 2000s and I always loved the vibe of London. Gigs everywhere and music always had an importance.
I still think that touring the UK is an amazing experience and we can’t wait to get back out there!
How has A Perfect Circle and Incubus influenced your writing?
They are both great bands. Andrea loves Incubus, so you felt that somehow in our music.
We are not particular fans of A Perfect Circle, but I think we probably have to share some colors and atmospheres in the our music.
I really don’t think too much while writing music with the guys. I think the more free you are the better it is.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
The ‘A New Tomorrow’ release is a ‘stand alone’ one.
We are currently demoing and writing a lot of material. We are mostly improvising at the moment and putting songs together. I would say that we are half way through the new album. It’s mega exciting, as since day one we decided to not put any boundaries on what comes out or the shape it takes.
It will definitely be different from our previous material!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
We got some ideas for the title, but it’s a bit early to say! Release date wise we are hoping for spring 2022 or along that way!
What else is happening next in A New Tomorrow’s world?
Our plan is to finish writing album number 2 and get some gigs (if the year will permit it) in autumn! I think we’ve got some exciting times ahead and we can’t wait to see you all around!
