Making the Best Out of the Freezing Temperatures

Winters have been getting harsher, and the cold seems to be setting in deeper this year.  Summer gets all of the fun and excitement, but winter isn’t a dull season!  Don’t downplay how much fun you can have in a snowscape just because you aren’t aware of it yet.  Instead of being bored, curled up on the couch with some hot chocolate, here are all of the ways you can make your winter unforgettable.

Winter is the best time to cook and bake.  When you bake, you warm your home, and there’s nothing as extraordinary as enjoying a warm loaf of bread or some fresh baked goods.  Let yourself have fun despite the cold and miserable weather!  The winter is also a great time to try new and exciting recipes you didn’t have much time for in the summer.  Although all of this cooking may culminate into a few extra winter pounds, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy yourself!  After all, if you want to keep your weight down, there are still things you can do.

Fun In The Snow

Don’t pass up the chance to have some fun outside!  Although the snow may deter some, it shouldn’t scare you off.  Instead, spend time getting to enjoy the more exciting parts of winter.   If you don’t have a yard of your own, you don’t have to look at Vancouver homes for sale.  Instead, you can go to most public parks; some even have ice skating areas for visitors.

Make An Indoors Greenhouse

Your home doesn’t have to be huge or extraordinarily well lit, to make an indoors lighthouse.  All you need is a UV light bulb, some space in a corner or on a desk or counter, and some plants you want to nurture.  Research how many hours of daylight your plants need, and then provide them with the UV light.  Although you can’t grow every plant imaginable, many tomatoes and bell pepper plants can keep producing fruit through the winter if kept in optimal conditions!  Pay attention to what your plants need, and then follow through!  Plants help circulate oxygen in your home and are capable of helping us produce serotonin through the actions of caring for them.

Get The Most Out Of The DarkOne thing that most people hate about winter is how early it gets dark.  The sun is such a source of joy and Vitamin D that winter can feel starkly depressing.  Instead of letting this eat at you, you can work to create a space that makes night exciting!  If you have young kids, you can do this with glow in the dark chalk.  Using the chalk, let them draw all over your sidewalk during the day.  When night comes, you’ll have beautiful art glowing in the dark outside.  You can also bring this inside, with a classic glow-in-the-dark ceiling star sticker for kids, and even using fairy-lights in your decor.  Just make sure to put any electronics on a timer, so you don’t forget and accidentally leave them on all day.
