KITTEN RELEASES NEW SONG “DADDY DON’T TAKE MY PHONE”

Pop rock weirdos KITTEN release new single “Daddy Don’t Take My Phone”today via TheOrchard. Listen to the track HERE

The third single from KITTEN’s forthcoming full-length record due next year, “Daddy Don’t Take My Phone”, is an all-out musical temper tantrum. Co-written by up-and-coming producer Gupi (Food House, Dog Show Records),”Daddy Don’t Take My Phone” leads listeners through a labyrinthine meltdown. Moody pop verses get sliced apart by brutal electronics with truly rattling drum sounds, courtesy of legendary producer Umru (Charli XCX, Dorian Electra, Slayyyer). A bratty acoustic guitar moment is cut short by a scream and a key change into chaos.

Equal parts Haschak Sisters and Nine Inch NailsKITTEN’s latest track continues their flagrant disregard for genre and makes artistic use of their inability to sit still. After the summertime cruise of “Angelina” and the head-banging pulse of “What Year Are We In”“Daddy Don’t Take My Phone” dives off the deep end into a twisted meditation on technological addiction and Freudian conflict.

Singer Chloe Chaidez adds, “This year I felt trapped. My emotions felt childlike, and the helplessness of 2020 angered me. ‘Daddy Don’t Take My Phone Away’ channels all that in the most epic way possible.”

Known in large part for their ferocious live shows, KITTEN has done their best to respond to a concert-less era by embracing new social media and leveling up their home-recording game. TikTok proved to be a perfect platform for Chaidez’s kinetic energy, and the time off the road has led to the completion of their long-awaited sophomore record.
