Introduction:

At first glance you can easily see that his footwear and apparel is not only fashionable, but very unique. Darrell Alston grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. When he was in high school, he recognized his talents as a recording artist and decided to take a leap of faith and jumped into a music career. Despite all the fame, music just wasn’t paying the bills so he wasn’t able to live the life of a rich rap star. At that point, he made some terrible decisions to make money which landed him in jail for a very long time. These decisions taught him the best lessons of his life.
His journey:
Darrell Alston was imprisoned for 6.5 years because of the mistakes he made during his rapping career, but we all have heard the term “Mistakes make a man”. Prison made him realize so many things about himself which helped him become the man that he is today. During his incarceration, he not only taught himself how to sketch, but he created a business plan that helped change his life forever. Once out of prison, he opened a barbershop to start his path to an honest living. As time progressed, the money that he earned from the barbershop combined with a loan from a friend, he was finally able to make his first big sneaker order. He started to publish and tell his story in high schools, TV shows, magazines, and newspaper articles. With this momentum, he was granted the opportunity to meet some investors/advisors that moulded him into the businessman that we see today. His success shows that every hardship has a lesson, and hard work always pays you back.
