The weekend before Christmas, R&B Legend, Donell Jones hosted a private “Ugly Christmas Sweater” Album Listening Party held at Upscale Lounge, Door 54 located in Atlanta, GA.
A select number of close family, friends, and reputable media correspondents filled the aesthetic, balloon decorated room with complimentary wings and things as well as red and white wine provided by Stella Rosa ATL.
As the crowd grew and COVID in mind, the night was just getting started with DJ Kat on the 1s and 2s. Not to mention, party rocking emcee, Byron Tolbert helped to keep the high-level energy going.
Once the guests were plated and seated, the main event began when Billboard-charting artist, Donell Jones walked in the building, gracing the red carpet, which featured VIP guests like Tony Terry (R&B Singer), Kool & The Gang member (Iconic band), Kissie Lee (R&B Singer/Billboard Songwriter), Hylan Starr (R&B Singer), Venita McCullum (Author of Raising A Rapper), K Samone (HOT 107.9 Radio Personality) Brandolyn Hellams (Fox 5 Atlanta Good Day), and more.
The evening closed with an intimate Q&A Listening Session, moderated by Angelo (Pops) Drummond. This was the perfect opportunity for fans and R&B lovers to hear from one of the most underrated artists in the industry, Donell Jones, and learn what he’s been doing during his seven-year hiatus to help him become 100% FREE.
“About seven years ago, I took a trip to Peru just for a spiritual journey. I never traveled by myself and when I got there I stayed in the jungle by myself.
It changed a lot of things about me because I was scared about a lot of things and I used to be self-conscious about taking off my hat because I was scared to show my bald head,” said the multifaceted artist.
“That trip and mediation made me love who I am and appreciate the person I’ve become. It didn’t happen overnight but I want to encourage everybody to always try to do better and stay away from negativity, that’s gone kill you,” he added.
Now that Donell is free from self-sabotage, negative thinking, smoking cigarettes, and dead-end industry contracts, he is ready to give his fans yet another timeless record.
The creative singer, songwriter, and producer have spent his time in quarantine walking 5 miles a day, eating and drinking right, and working on a quality free album. He’s focused on giving his fans what they want, which is authentic, soulful Donell Jones, but this time they can expect some house music, reggae, and of course some impactful love songs.
“Karma (Payback)” the first single off the album is available to listen to and download at DonellJonesMusic.com. In the meantime, the countdown is still on until Mr. Where I Wanna Be & Mr. You Know What’s Up debuts his 7th studio album.
While waiting, please don’t forget to check out his new Christmas single presented and produced by hit-making Dj, Eddie F, now available on all streaming platforms.
