Hi Simon, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
I’m very well, thanks for asking.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “It’s No Good”?
It’s my lead song from my debut album Mode Formula.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
It’s a cover of one of my favourite songs.
The single comes off your new album Mode Formula – what’s the story behind the title?
So the story is its a nod to Depeche Mode. I have used all my influences from them, put them together and thought to myself it’s like a formula of their music.
How was the recording and writing process?
Brilliant, loved it. Being in the studio creating songs and sounds is the best.
What role does Welwyn Garden City play in your music?
The only role, really is my home built studio where all the magic happens!!!
How has Depeche Mode influenced your writing?
Massively. I’ve drawn confidence in my own songwriting from listening to their music for so long.
What lead you to pay tribute Depeche Mode with this album in particular?
They have had. Massive effect on my life. Their music is my soundtrack, so I wanted to pay homage to them and in my own way thank them for the joy and pleasure they have given me.
Where else did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
I love electronic music and there are so many great tracks/albums that I have listened to over the years
What else is happening next in D`SIPAUL’s world?
So, preparing for the release and then back in the studio in spring to work on my next batch of songs. I have around 15 at the minute and 4-5 are in demo stage.
