A Wonky New Tommy Lee/Pamela Anderson Television Series on the Way from Hulu and Seth Rogen

Oh my, just when I assumed 2020 could not get any zanier and just downright weird: News broke today from The Hollywood Reporter that actors Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Lily James (Baby Driver) are set to play star-crossed, VHS obsessed oddball lovers Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson respectively in an upcoming Hulu limited series which is being executive produced by Seth Rogen.

Set to focus on the whirlwind rock and roll romance between 1990s bad-boy rock star drummer Tommy Lee and Baywatch icon Pamela Anderson, this deep-dive eight episode limited series into a particular pocket of time for the former couple will also hash out their infamous sex tape which all but consumed the American public and the world at large. Rogen plays the part of the man responsible for absconding with the sex tape and making it public. Current working title? Pam & Tommy, natch, although ye olde cynical reporter wonders what sort of legal wrangling transpired over the exact billing of this new show.

Reportedly Lee and Anderson are not involved in Pam & Tommy, which may just answer my own question from above (although according to Hollywood insiders the two are very much aware of it). The project originates from Rogen’s and Evan Goldberg’s production house Point Grey Pictures and Annapurna Television. Scribe of note Rob Siegel (The Wrestler) will be hammering out this modern day Great Gatsby while Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) is on point to direct. Actually, considering the two examples given from these two gent’s lists of credits, they may just have a deft enough ear and gentle hand to capture something altogether unexpected from this tabloid story.

Executive producing Pam & Tommy alongside Rogen and Goldberg are Hollywood mainstays Dylan Sellers (through Limelight), Dave Franco and Annapurna’s very own Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have been with the project every step of the way, bringing the original germ of an idea to Point Grey which is leading the charge on the film.

Current production schedule has Pam & Tommy stepping in front of the cameras this coming spring.
