Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Take My Heart”?
Yes for sure! “Take My Heart” is about feeling so deeply for someone but not knowing how to tell them and questioning whether they feel the same. This song is a page from my journal where I talked about falling in love but wasn’t sure how to express it in the moment. If I could go back and do it all again, this is what I would say.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Yes, there’s a story but it’s a little too personal. However what I can tell you is it’s about a boy and the rest you can find out by listening to the song.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
I have a video that will be coming out for my next release, unfortunately not this one.
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording of this song was definitely a process. It started with just me and my piano. This song is quite personal to me so it took some time to be able to share it with my producer (Tal Vaisman) and co-songwriter/vocal coach (Darnell Thomas). But once I did, they really helped me capture all the emotion I put into the song and more in the recording.
What role does Toronto play in your music?
Unfortunately, my first two releases happened during COVID so I haven’t been able to fully put myself out there yet. I’ve definitely been getting lots of love from Toronto on my social medias though!
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Ummmm… of course! I’m looking forward to my next release in February 2021. I actually have a bit of a vault of recorded original material ready to be released. I’m constantly writing and creating new material where I know next year I could release an EP or two which I am super excited to share.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Yes! The next song release is titled “You Still Need Me”. As mentioned it’s going to be released in February 2021, but a date had not been picked yet.
What else is happening next in Sam Lapro’s world?
In Sam Lapro’s world, she just bought a Stratocaster and is going to teach herself how to play because she thinks that’s pretty fucking cool.
