Ranking Every Episode Of The 17th Season Of ‘The Simpsons’

The 16th season of The Simpsons featured “All’s Fair in Oven War,” my favorite episode of the show outside the “classic” seasons. That means it’s all downhill from here, in a way. I also know I am getting close to the point where I will get to a season where some episodes I have only seen once or twice. At that point, I won’t be doing this rankings any longer. It just won’t be fair. Sure, you may say, “You’re ranking Simpsons episodes online, who cares?” I care! I also care about ranking every episode of the 17th season of The Simpsons. Now, that is just what I shall do.

22. “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bangalore”

21. “We’re on the Road to D’ohwhere”

20. “The Italian Bob”

19. “Treehouse of Horror XVI”

18. “The Wettest Stories Ever Told”

17. “Million Dollar Abie”

16. “See Homer Run”

15. “Simpsons Christmas Stories”

14. “Homer’s Paternity Coot”

13. “My Fair Laddy”

12. “Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play”

11. “The Monkey Suit”

10. “Milhouse of Sand and Fog”

9. “Bart Has Two Mommies”

8. “Girls Just Want to Have Sums”

7. “Marge’s Son Poisoning”

6. “The Girl Who Slept Too Little”

5. “Homer Simpson, This is Your Wife”

4. “Bonfire of the Manatees”

3. “Regarding Margie”

2. “The Seemingly Never-Ending Story”

1. “The Last of the Red Hat Mamas”

Here’s how ranking this season went for me. The first four or five episodes on the list were the clear bottom five. “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bangalore” is really bad. Then, it was a matter of ordering a bunch of pretty good episodes. Well, pretty good to good. We’re talking a lot of “B” episodes. None of these episodes are great. Maybe one or two is really good. I definitely think “The Last of the Red Hat Mamas” is quite fun and strong. However, fitting for a season with an episode involving a lot of baseball, season 17 of The Simpsons is hitting a lot of doubles. There aren’t any homers, but there are also only a couple strikeouts. It’s a solid season of television, which is a big step down from the show’s heyday,  but season 17 of The Simpsons is better than, say, any season of The Big Bang Theory. Plus, I feel pretty confident now I will be able to handle season 18 and 19 or so before I run out of seasons. Until then…
