Taken from the Arabic word for ‘melodious’, Cha:dy [pronounced sha-dee] can now reveal her next single. ‘suffocating’ is out now via 304 Music.
Listen to ‘suffocating’ HERE.
‘suffocating’ is a song about self-love and choosing yourself over romance. It speaks for those who have been in a bad space and jumped into a relationship thinking it would feel better. That relationship then starts to feel very overwhelming once the honeymoon phase passes. There becomes a point of realisation that this person is great, yet it will never be everlasting. The lyrics “ the honeymoon phase has passed, and now I realise, your love and affection were just a distraction, you can’t be the remedy, when I need surgery” mirror this entirely.
Speaking specifically on the release, Cha:dy further explains “It’s about a relationship that suffocated me when I should have focused on self-healing and finding my peace instead of being someone else. I feel like it’s a theme that’s rarely explored in love songs, as romance is often placed above everything.”
