The Mayries connect with Ed Prosek on the sublime ‘4am’

Despite the uncertainty of 2020, the unwavering musical story of  Berlin-based singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Ed Prosek, rapturously continues with, “4 AM,” his first collaborative effort of the year.

Leaning away from the poppier shades of his music and opting to reconnect with the folkier sounds of his earlier works in the latter half of this year, his previous single “Now and Then,” hinted at a truly enchanting path that he continues down. Joined this time by Stockholm-based singer-songwriter duo The Mayries, their distinctly emotive musical intricacies perfectly intertwine with Ed’s, crafting something truly unforgettable.

A contemplative reinterpretation of a timeless love song, he outlines that,

4 AM is a song about the ups and downs of true love. Movies always end with a “happily ever after” but everyone knows life is more complicated than that. All the unfulfilled dreams and unresolved baggage are what keep life interesting and this song is dedicated to the true love that outlasts it all.

Alluding to his forthcoming EP, he continues,

I started working on the coming set of songs in the hopes that I’d be able to put myself in someone else’s shoes and change my perspective on the music I write by working with other talented and inspiring artists. I first heard of The Mayries about 2 years ago, and their beautiful voices and harmonies were always so captivating. So when I flew up to Stockholm this summer, we wrote and recorded this little duet and immediately fell in love with it. We hope you will too!

With The Mayries adding that,

Ed played us this great refrain that instantly gave us all the same idea for a whole story. We immediately began writing a song that describes the young and naive love in a transitional time in life when you’re searching for something with more stability. Though we’re not so naive anymore we’ve certainly all been there once or twice.
