Just in time for Friday the 13th, cosmic-rock band DREAMERS have released a deliciously dark animated video for their new track, “True Crime” ft. DeathbyRomy. A blend of live action, stop-motion, 2D and 3D animation, by Burton Booz, the innovative clip perfectly captures the song’s story of love and betrayal set in the dark magic of New Orleans. Director Jared Asher Harris describes the creative process: “The band was shot on green screen so we could capture their performance. We then cut out their heads and placed them on 2D bodies that were made by mashing up photographs and illustrations like collage-art. The bodies were then rigged and animated in After Effects. The skeletons and sets were all hand-modeled and animated in 3D. When the animation was finished, we outputted the video as one giant clip and cut it up as though it were a live action music video with trippy quick cuts.”

“True Crime” ft. DeathbyRomy was co-written by DREAMERS, DeathbyRomy, Joyway’s Dan Armbruster and Sir Sly’s Jason Suwito and co-produced by Armbruster and Suwito. The track was inspired by the decadent city of New Orleans, and the band’s chance encounter with a male witch (who taught the trio incantations) and what lead singer Nick Wold describes as “the terrible things – the crimes – that we can do to each other in the name of love.”

“True Crime” ft. DeathByRomy and is the follow-up to “Heat Seeker” ft. grandson and the band’s top ten alternative hit “Die Happy.”
