One Vision Music Group’s rising country artist, Cody Belew, released his new Christmas single “Hang Your Hat On My Christmas Tree,” Friday, November 6, will be featured in the newly announced Paramount film “Dashing In December.” The trailer for the film, which is centered around an LGBTQI+ couple during the holidays, can be viewed here. “Dashing In December” will simulcast on the Paramount Network, TV Land, Pop and Logo, on Sunday, December 13. The song was released to country radio last week.
“Some songs take months to materialize and sometimes a song will just write itself, which is exactly what happened with ‘Hang Your Hat On My Christmas Tree.’ I wanted to write a Christmas song that had a little bit of all our favorites sprinkled into the recipe. That way, it would feel like a classic even though it’s brand new,” Belew said. “If you’re reminded of your favorite holiday memories or if you’re living new ones while this song is playing, then I’ll have done my job.”
Self-writtenby Cody and produced by Skylar Wilson, the joyous holiday track exuberates catchy and clever lyricism perfectly paired with Cody’s smooth vocals. Cody is no stranger to the spotlight as he previously made his national television debut during the third season of the Emmy-award winning competition series “The Voice,” making it into the Top 8 finalists. Additionally, his song “The Choice A Lonely Heart Makes,” was featured on the hit CW series, “Roswell, New Mexico.” Belew has continued to cement his spot in the Nashville music industry where he has opened for the likes of Florida Georgia Line, Dierks Bentley, Delta Rae and more. Cody has also gone on to write with Grammy Award winning artists such as Deana Carter and Mike Reid, ACM Award winner Tia Sellers, and recording artists such as Jillian Jacqueline, Autumn McEntire, Hailey Whitters, Rick Brantley, and Waylon Payne.
One Vision Music Group’s head of A&R and award winning music supervisor, Anastasia Brown, believes that sync placements are a key ingredient in an artist’s career. “Having many original songs written for
film and TV series that I have supervised, this is the first time I’ve experienced a song being written in a day, for a scene yet to be filmed, with no changes required. Cody is a music supervisor’s dream.”
