Clint Eastwood should be proud: News from our far-flung movie cousins The Hollywood Reporter this morning about an upcoming film to keep our eyes peeled for and which will star Eastwood’s son Scott (Suicide Squad), the action-thriller Dangerous.
Directed by David Hackl (Real Detective), Dangerous is perhaps most notable at the moment for the stellar cast that has been assembled: Other than up and coming actor Eastwood the film can also boast the fine acting chops of Mel Gibson, Tyrese Gibson, Famke Janssen and Kevin Durand in a story about a reformed sociopath (essayed by Eastwood) who, after the passing of his brother, reluctantly becomes involved in bringing to justice the gang of miscreants who were involved in his death.
Mel Gibson will apparently be taking on a pivotal supporting part in the film, something that viewers who have seen the Oscar winner in such meaty early roles as The River and The Year of Living Dangerously know he is more than capable of.
Jumping into producing roles for Dangerous will be the DeWalt Duo, also known as Kevin and Ben DeWalt. They’ll be doing the honors for production house Mind’s Eye Entertainment. Also getting in on the producing action will be Doug Falconer of Falconer Pictures, with executive producers listed as Michael Benaroya (for Benaroya Pictures) and Todd Shepherd (for Miscellaneous Entertainment). Getting down to the nitty-gritty, International Film Trust, Invico Capital and 3 Point Capital will finance the entire enchilada with International Film Trust selling worldwide rights sans Canada. Mind’s Eye International will do the honors of handling Canada and co-repping the U.S. of A. with International. Cameras or tentatively set to roll later on this month in the Great White North and the finite film will debut to potential buyers at the vaunted American Film Market.
“IFT is pleased to present Dangerous to buyers at AFM,” Michael Benaroya said in a statement. “As an action film with a superb cast and strong producers, this is the type of package that distributors are seeking.”
As noted at the top of this treatise, the on the rise Scott Eastwood is headlining Dangerous after a string of popular and much-buzzed about films such as Suicide Squad, F8: The Fate of the Furious, Pacific Rim: Uprising and The Longest Ride, following the career trajectory of his legendary father Clint Eastwood who plied his craft in a number of smaller roles before steadily climbing up the Hollywood rung to become one of the most respected actors of his time. No pressure there, Scott. Jus’ sayin.’
Vents will keep readers up to date on any breaking news on Dangerous. It looks to be a winner!
