Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hey how are ya? We’ve been good, hangin’ in there, ready to jump in to 2021 after such a weird 2020.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Where I Wanna Be”?
The premise of “Where I Wanna Be” came from all of our different experiences and memories, It’s really personal to us. It was written by Brandon, Bryan and Andria Farrell. Produced by Tyler Cain, and will be released on November 13th.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
We originally wrote “Where I Wanna Be” because we wanted to write a song that was relatable, upbeat, and also something a little different than what we had done in the past. When the pandemic hit, we realized the lyrics took on a whole new meaning for us, and we think everyone else can agree with that. We all realized how crucial it is to be around those you love, and how important social interaction is to not only us but just to people in general.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
After recording the song, we knew we wanted to shoot a music video for it, so that was an easy decision. We will be releasing a music video on the same day as the track, November 13th, and we’re excited for everyone to see the vision we’ve had all along while creating this song.
How was the recording and writing process?
The writing process took many different turns, like most songs do. At one point we had a whole different song written. A different title, different melodies and lyrics. We gave it some time to resonate, and the song took on a life of it’s own. We recorded it at a studio in North Hollywood. Tyler was in town for a few days so we booked a room and tracked the vocals, and Tyler engineered the whole session.
What was it like to work with Tyler Cain and how did that relationship develop?
We actually reached out to Tyler through Instagram, and things just clicked. We all agreed creatively and artistically about the direction we wanted to head in, and he agreed to produce our next song. Tyler is just a great human being, he’s such a laid back, honest guy, who we felt we had known for years prior to this project. He has his own unique style of production and he was great to work with. Speaking of, We’re actually working on another record together right now.
How much did he get to influence the song?
The original rough we sent Tyler was a completely different song. Once he got his hands on it, and put his spin on it, the production and style of the song changed drastically. We pretty much scratched what we had and re-wrote most of the song with new lyrics and melodies. Which made the song what it is today.
Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?
Of course, We’re always writing and working on new material, currently in the process of recording new songs to be released in 2021. We’re excited for the world to hear it!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Yeah, We’ll be releasing new music in the new year, no exact dates yet, but we’ll let you know. In regards to titles, we like to keep y’all guessing, so stay tuned.
What else is happening next in Holiday State’ world?
We’re planning on getting on the road next year, if covid allows. We started off 2020 strong, so just trying to end the year the same way. We’re heading to Nashville soon to record some new music and continuing to put out new content.
