Interview With Rising Artist Yoson Tala

Where are you from?

Gary, Indiana.

When did you start making music?

I began to do music in high school.

How did you first get into music?

I got into music because I was influenced by my big brother Jesus Ramos, AKA Big Zeus of SGP records. I learned the basics of music-making and how the business goes through him. He was a big mentor for it.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

I started my own movement entitled Talaband which later became Tala Nation. The hardest thing I had to overcome is that out of seven members, three passed away, two stopped doing music, and it’s just me and my brother Bo Bo now. The hard part is to continue along on my journey knowing that music is my destiny.

Are you signed or independent?

I am currently independent, but also taking meetings with labels regularly.

What’s your biggest inspiration for your music?

My mother inspires me the most because no matter what, she always tells me to keep going with what I started.

What do you want people to take away from your music?

When people listen to my music, I want them to be i nspired, enlightened, and know that you can make it out of the struggle. There’s always light in the dark.

What has been your biggest achievement in music?

One of my biggest achievements in music is a video on YouTube called “Flexx” that has 1 million views, and also going overseas as an Independent.

Who is one artist you’d like to work with in the future?

One artist I wish to work with would be Lil Baby or Travis Scott.
