Nigerian born and American made, Afro-Trap artist God-Of-Chamby, is giving us an addictive hip-hop-based trap energy on his new song ‘Things I Like’.
While placing a focus on Afro-Trap, Chamby can still be seen to draw on a diverse range of sonic influences from Afrobeat, Grime, Hip-Hop and Pop. As he continues to evolve and develop his music, one constant is him retaining his African roots as a core element of his artistic style and musicianship. This can be seen in his latest release ‘Things I Like’, with up-tempo Hip-Hop and Trap beats that echo subtle but distinct Afrobeat flavours.
With an anthemic energy, the song blends Hip-Hop, Trap and Afrobeats to create a vibrant, yet sultry, soundscape. Regularly interchanging the tempo and rhythm, the song is wonderfully dynamic and unpredictable; while showcasing Chamby’s skilled lyricism and rapping finesse.
Lyrically, Chamby’s dynamic and fast rhythm and flow explore a multitude of topics that fall under the category of things he likes, as the title suggests. Chamby explains “”Bow to the middle of my greatness” I went more raunchy on this single as I’m really coming into the boss that I am so it’s time everyone recognize it”.
