Alternative rock band Psyence returns with new single ‘Retrospect’ via Black Belt Recordings.
With anthemic qualities to uplift and endure, it’s another strong contender from the rising alternative rock five-piece from Stoke-on-Trent who are oscillating their sounds far and wide.
Bubbling synths, expansive vocal melodies and adrenaline-fused energies once again dovetail vintage rock sounds with new.
Speaking about the track, Jay from Psyence explains that, even though the lyrics tell a story about a broken relationship, they are also a metaphor for these Covid times:
“Everyone gets down, everyone gets fed up, but this is an anthem to make you think back and realise, it’s not all that bad. A bitter end can also be a new beginning.”
Developing a fearsome reputation for their incendiary live shows, the band have become firm favourites at the Shiiine On Festivals (and Cruise), as well as having performed at Kendall Calling, Tramlines, and Festival No 6 Festivals in the UK, amongst others.
Psyence have also supported notable rising tastemaker acts including Manchester-based alt-rock band, The Blinders, Australian rock band, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, in addition to Saint Agnes and Warmduscher.
Psyence are also active as local live music promoters. Ben from the band is the founder of the emerging new music festival, Your City, which hopes to return for its third edition in May 2021, showcasing more than 100 up and coming artists across a variety of music venues in and around Stoke on Trent.
