Interview with Rising Toronto Nightlife DJ Anthony Sorella

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

When I was a teenager I started getting into business just to make some extra money on the side so that I would have some spending cash. I started to use the cash to go to the clubs and enjoy the nightlife. Eventually after going out enough I started to get close with the owners and other people in the nightlife industry. Once I built those connections they asked me if I wanted to start to do promotions for them, I took that opportunity and ran with it. One of my earliest successes was in promoting and nightlife which eventually led me to want to become a DJ and the rest is history.

What does a day inside your shoes look like?

I wear chucks all day, everyday. Chucks are life. I wear them to the gym, to the club, when I’m meeting clients, etc. I’m kind of known for my chucks actually. I have a whole closet dedicated to them. On the low people call me “Chuckie” for my shoe style.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

I am not 100% sure if takeaways is the right word as my music is solely revolved around beats, but I want my music to keep the party going in a chill way. It’s not party bumping but its overall happy good vibes you can dance with or just wind down with friends.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

First and for most my greatest achievement would be just becoming a musician in the first place. I am blessed to be in the position that I am in and don’t want to take that for granted. Growing up I was tone deaf. Maybe I still am, but I’ve always had a sense for beats and rhythm even if I can’t keep up with melody. I believe my music is in a genre by itself as not many people target an after club playlist that’s relaxing. I hope people enjoy it as much as I enjoy making it.
