The Keturah Hamilton Foundation and Hope Road Foundation joined forces to use their voices to spread and shed light on the current situation in Nigeria. SARS (Special Anti Robbery Squad) is a branch of the Nigeria Police Force. SARS officers carry guns, but do not wear Nigerian police uniforms or badges. Since the creation of SARS, they have been known for engaging in illegal acts, torturing citizens, and even killing them.
The people of Nigeria have decided that enough is enough! They want their rights and humanity to be the priority of the government. Protests were held in New York City, London, and other cities around the world. In support of their cause, KHF and HRF held a peaceful protest at Leimert Park in Los Angeles on Sunday, October 25, 2020. The protestors marched from Martin Luther King JR Blvd to Crenshaw Blvd.
We hope that people worldwide will unite to bring forth awareness to stop the separation, abuse, and inhumane treatment of the citizens in Nigeria and other African counties. We are living in a social media world, so nothing can be hidden or swept under the rug anymore. People are rising up and becoming conscious. This is a movement and not a moment. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Martin Luther King JR.
