Tips for Wearing Jewelry in the Winter

As days become shorter and the air becomes crisper, we are slowly starting to put our summer clothes away. Short shorts are being replaced with warm leggings, our favorite crop tops are making room for that cozy fleece and dainty long necklaces are being replaced with infinity scarves.

Of course, just because the colder days are coming, that doesn’t mean that we still can rock some of our favorite jewelry pieces. And even though not all of them will get a chance to shine this winter, there are still plenty of ways you can rock some of your favorite pieces. Here are just some of the ways you can wear your jewelry in winter, as well as some things to keep in mind when choosing which pieces will emphasize your look.

Draw attention to your hands

Many people prefer wearing gloves in winter. That’s why embellishing your fingers with your favorite rings can sound counter-intuitive. However, if you still enjoy the coziness of gloves but you want to accessorize your hands, you can always get yourself a pair of fingerless mittens. On top of that, if you love opal rings, for instance, this will be a great opportunity to keep your hands as well as your jewelry safe. Since opals toes are quite delicate, they shouldn’t be exposed to extremely low temperatures for a long time. But if you get a pair of fingerless gloves with removable tops, your hands can stay nice and warm while you still get the chance to show off your rings if you want to.

Be careful when choosing earrings

As mentioned earlier, winter is the time of craves, turtlenecks and hoodies. That’s why long and dangly earrings or large hoop earrings are probably not the best choice. Instead, when choosing earrings, make sure you go with a pair that won’t get caught on your clothes. The last thing you want to do is spend the day untangling and unhooking your earrings from your sweater or scarf. That’s why something smaller and more delicate might be a better choice. Think small hoops and gemstone studs instead of long and over the top variants.

Know how to pick necklaces

Additionally, the choice of necklaces you wish to parade this winter will heavily depend on the clothes you choose to wear. And, of course, your choice of clothes will depend on the occasion. However, since winter clothes are generally bulkier, so should be your necklaces. Forget all about dainty and delicate pieces as they won’t get a true chance to shine. Instead, go with bulkier options and let the work as a statement piece of your outfit. Additionally, if you’re wearing a turtleneck, a choker will not be the best choice. In such an instance, choose a long necklace that will bring more focus to your torso. Of course, you can also choose a nice and silky neck scarf and have it work as an accessory piece instead.

Be bold with bracelets

Finally, since winter is the time of the long sleeves, many people choose to store away their wrist accessories. However, if you enjoy wearing bracelets or wristwatches, you absolutely can do so. But instead of going for something delicate and barely noticeable, be bold with your choices. Go for bulky pieces that will draw attention and even feel free to wear them over your sleeves.

So, just because colder days are ahead and you’ll probably be warmly tucked in layers of clothes, that doesn’t mean you should avoid wearing your favorite jewelry. Just remember to choose the pieces accordingly and let both you and your jewels shine.
