Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

We can’t complain! We were both born in October, Chaun on the 7th and Nate on the 29th, so we’re feeling pretty good right now. 2020 has been such a crazy year for the whole world so we’re just trying to stay sane.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “AMBER”?

AMBER is a song all about vices. When you think about something that’s good to you but not necessarily good for you, that’s AMBER. We wanted to personify temptation and addiction behind the guise of an R&B love song.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

When we began working on our first project vibwithus, we knew we wanted to tell a millennial life story about things we have gone through and the experiences of people around us that millennials can relate to. AMBER can be about work, drugs, or a person — anything that you know you should but just can’t walk away from.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

vibwithus, our visual playlist, features a performance video for AMBER and it’s streaming now! We’re also working on a couple more visual projects for AMBER so we’re definitely excited.

How was the recording and writing process?

Every song we create comes about differently. The great thing about being a duo is that we’re truly able to collaborate. We bring our individual strengths to a creative space and allow the music to make itself, more often than not. It helps that we have a similar taste in music too. We both come from Gospel and R&B backgrounds so we speak a lot of the same language musically.

What role does Nashville play in your music?

VīB began in Nashville; Chaun was a Lyft driver and Nate needed a ride home one evening after a concert. Nashville connected us and we continue to be inspired by the rich history of Soul music in this city. There is an incredible community of artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers that push the sounds of Music City forward and we just want to add to that!

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

After creating the millennial life story with vibwithus, it’s only right we follow that up with the millennial love story. COVID-19 has completely changed the world and one thing it has reminded us to do is love. We took the time during quarantine to really appreciate the good in our lives and our new project will pick up right where the last one ended, both sonically and visually.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

We’re always looking for innovative ways to release our music and we’re excited to begin rolling out our next project at the top of 2021.

What else is happening next in ViB’s world?

To listen to our music or watch our videos is one thing, but we know the only way to truly experience VīB is to see us perform live! Because we can’t travel and perform just yet, we’re giving people a taste of our show with our Live at H.O.M.E. concert series, launching in November. We’ll be performing songs from vibwithus, including our single AMBER. Make sure you stay tuned in! AND GO VOTE!
