Hi Carter, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
I am great, thank you for having me!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Sinners In A Small Town”?
Yes! This song means a lot to me–so many bad things that happen and change people’s lives never receive justice. This song says, “This is what happened, why did no one say anything? Why did no one hear when people did say something?” We ask ourselves these questions over and over when something bad or tragic happens, and I want people to know that it isn’t fair to have them left unanswered.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
My co-writers and I have all seen and experienced things that have been terrible, just like anyone else. It was this feeling that inspired us to write a song. We felt discouraged and almost angry at the world for what we had seen and in writing this song, we just hoped people could sing along and feel like they weren’t alone. Sometimes people heal before justice is served, if it ever is, and we just wanted to help people do that.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
Yes! Soon 🙂
How was the recording and writing process?
It was so special. Jen Stegall and Margaret Valentine, who I wrote this with, also produced the song and I think it turned out so beautiful and raw.
Who are your greatest musical influences?
I have always loved country music and beautiful lyrics. I’ve always loved how Eric Church and Dolly Parton have spun lyrics into their songs. I also listened to every Johnny Cash and Fleetwood Mac album ever made on repeat growing up.
Who would be your dream collaborations?
Ohhhh there are so many but at the top of my list are Eric Church, Kacey Musgraves, and of course, Dolly Parton.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new album?
No promises or plans on that yet, but I am spending time writing and creating right now so hopefully soon!!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Nothing to share right now:)
What else is happening next in Carter Faith’s world?
I am a junior in college and just learning to balance life and enjoy it alllll.
