“Collaborating with the incomparable Cimafunk was a phenomenal experience, as his talent and versatility have no boundaries,” shares Nu Deco Ensemble co-founder and artistic director, Sam Hyken. “This marks a continuation of our special relationship with the music and musicians of Cuba, and we are thrilled to share this special evening with the world as part of the Nu deco+ series.”

Fellow Nu Deco Ensemble co-founder and artistic director, Jacomo Bairos, shares the same sentiment explaining, “Cimafunk is a once in a generation artist. His unique blend of funk, Cuban, Afro-Cuban and soul creates this fusion of artistry, panache and fun. While he draws inspiration from so much past musical history and previous iconic giants before him, he has crafted a new, fresh and relevant sound that is infectious and vibrant. I dare you to listen to Cimafunk and not want to jump out of your chair and dance for joy!”

Cimafunk adds, “It was an amazing surprise to find out that I would be sharing the stage with Nu Deco. I had wanted to listen to myself sing with a classical orchestra for a long time now. With Nu Deco it was something like that, but in a much more relaxed way than I had imagined. The musical arrangements were really electric and clean. I think that was the most special thing of the whole experience.”
