INTERVIEW: Cocopuffs

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi! Thank you so much for having us. Everything is good right now. This whole situation has been tough on everyone during the lockdown, however it has brought us together as a group to form Cocopuffs and given us the ability to write music and create songs for people to enjoy during these hard times.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Falling For Love”?

‘’Falling For Love’’ is our second release. We wanted a strong track to follow our first single ‘’Easy To Love’’ and we knew this track would showcase the style we’re going for when making our songs. The track is influenced by 80’s music and can be heard by the style of the synth sounds used. We wanted it to be both danceable and melodic which we were able to achieve by fusioning both deep house and tech house sounds.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Getting a good response on ‘’Easy To Love’’ inspired us to continue on the same path. But this time we wanted to make something that could fit the dance club scene more.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

We have thought of the idea to create a video, but things are under wraps for now. You’ll have to keep updated on all things Cocopuffs to find out more.

How was the recording and writing process?

Our writing and recording process is almost never the same, it always differs. Although something that we try to convey in each of our songs, is the uniqueness of them. For this particular track we wanted to use the same ‘’trumpet’’ sound which can be heard in ‘’Easy To Love’’. From there we started to play some chords on the piano that we liked and everything came together. And when we added the synth sounds in the chorus we knew this would be our next single.

What role does the UK play in your music?

We feel like the UK is always ahead when it comes to house music. Just look at Meduza, the UK were the first to play their songs on the Radio, then the rest of the world were made aware of their talent. We’ve also signed with Colossal Music which is a label based in the UK, so for us it plays a huge role.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes we already have a track that we’re finishing up and want to release. We usually start out with an idea and then over time we change the track. Since there are four of us, everyone has their own inputs to how the finished song should sound. So we’re currently changing the production until we’re completely satisfied.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

The title is not set yet , but we want to release it pretty soon, maybe within the next month or two.

What else is happening next in Cocopuffs’ world?

We will focus on delivering good music , that’s always the most important thing for us. But together with our management, we will also work on our brand and direction to cater to all our current and future fans. There is a lot that we are working on right now, but we are excited for what’s ahead.
