‘WandaVision’ Looks Amazing. That Is All

I don’t love the idea of the world of Marvel movies bleeding into television. When I was told that the Marvels shows coming to Disney+ were going to include things that are considered canon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe I was annoyed. I’m all for expanding the world, but the movies and the TV shows should be separate. It can be tricky enough to stay up to date with just the movies. If you miss one, you probably missed something important. That being said, it isn’t going to be an issue for me for at least one show. After seeing the trailer for WandaVision, I personally can’t wait for it to debut.

Honestly, I feel like I am as psyched for WandaVision as I have been for anything Marvel related. In terms of excitement, this probably tops the charts, save for perhaps Endgame, since there was so much culmination in that. I really enjoyed Thor: Ragnarok, but I wasn’t too excited for it because the first two Thor movies are total snoozes. I suppose I was psyched for Ant-Man and the Wasp, but I was a little leery of a sequel. The crazy thing is that, as characters in the MCU, Wanda (aka Scarlet Witch) and Vision are far from the most interesting. This show just looks so fascinating and ambitious that I’m all in.

Admittedly, I am fully a sucker for meta pop culture and entertainment that comments on entertainment. The fact that is seems Wanda and Vision are in some sort of sitcom world fascinates me and really captures my interest. Just seeing Elizabeth Olsen in black-and-white dolled up as a ‘50s housewife is perfect. They riff on Bewitched! Fred Melamed makes an appearance! There also seems to be plenty of action and science/magic going on, which is fine and exciting I’m sure. Mostly I’m into Wanda and Vision existing in a ‘70s family sitcom. This show debuts in December of 2020. Combine that with season two of The Mandalorian and I will definitely be getting my Disney+ account up and running again soon.
