INTERVIEW: Circle The Earth

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Busy…between our first single release, and the premiere of our new music video, to recording new songs we have had very little time to take it all in.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Could Be You”?

The song is indicative of the feel of the band, fun, upbeat, with a catchy hook. It was written by Lead Vocalist Khadia Handon, and Producer/Universal Music Group writer Jaylien Wesley.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

“It Could Be You” was birthed from an experience I had when I was living in Cuernavaca, Mexico. I decided that I wanted to cut loose and create a night to remember. Normally, I tend to worry that if I let loose too much that something bad or unsafe can happen, so I try to play life more on the safe side.  However, this night, I buried that person inside and let the riskier side of me come out to play. She is fierce, fun, spontaneous and goes against her natural instinct to, “play it safe.”

So, this particular night, I went to a club, in MX, with a couple friends on a mission. My mission was to party all night and meet a sexy Latino man who I would let decide where the night would take us. And he did!

How did you come up with the concept for the video?

I wish we could say we came up with it lol but a absolutely wonderful job and concept was put together by BlackHound Productions. They really put the time into the details creating the right mood to an already hooky upbeat song. It didn’t hurt that it was recorded at Popsicle Studios in LA where they shot scenes from Batman.

Explain the recording process for this song.

We work with Grammy winning producer Mikal Blue at Revolver Studios he is amazing, producing such acts as One Republic, Five for Fighting, Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, and more. He really gets our sound Pop with Rock under-tones. You know we always track drums and guitars first. Sandro (drums) and Kazuki (Guitar) are world class musicians. Their attention to detail is beyond belief.

Then we usually lay down Keys with Sandy and Bass with Mike. We always have a scratch track of vocals for them to go off of.

After that it’s all Khadia, she brings the pipes and I mean she really brings it. World class vocalist. After that it’s all up to Whitney and Lauren to bring the heat of the harmony vocals. It’s kind of our thing, a lost art in music nowadays, great harmony vocals that really bring a song to life.

What role does LA play in your music?

LA is our home though we are from all parts of the world (thus Circle the Earth) we have played every major venue in LA at one time or another. Our goal is to let the rest of the world hear what we’re all about.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes definitely, we are finishing up the next 3 singles right now.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

The second release is due the end of October along with a new music video. We would rather keep you all guessing. Let’s just say it will be just as good if not better than the first.

What else is happening next in Circle the Earth’s world?

Rehearsals and working on new material and our show for next year. We want to be ready. Preparing for our next two single releases as well as music videos. Were just having fun, and it shows in our music.
